What are some sturdy Early Model SUV S with 4LO?
I have a ford escape with 4wd. But it doesn't have 4LO, ford hasn't made a model of escape that has 4LO.
I'm just looking for some SUVS that have 4LO and are strong and will at least last.
I would prefer earlier models (2000 s- 2010) but what are some suggestions.
I know JEEPS have 4 LO 4 HI and 2WD. But i've read some reviews on where they are rattleboxes that don't last all that long.
And lastly. I don't want something big like a Chevy silverado or truck.
I prefer American made since I feel as if parts are easier and cheaper to come by and install
What are some suggestions?
Not sure if that is still the case, but all transfer cases on US manufactured 4WD vehicles (including Ford and Chevy) used to be made by Chrysler.
My 1983 Subaru GL 4WD wagon had a 2-speed transfer case. It was a nice metallic blue color like the one to the right of the link below, only mine was not a turbo. It had a solid metal skid plate under engine/trans, and everything else under it was tucked up so I could high center over frost heaved culverts in Upper Michigan, or downed logs in Ocala National Forest in Florida without hurting anything. And at just over 2000 lbs it was so light that it could drive across rain soaked prairie grass in South Dakota without leaving a footprint (or ruts). Newer Subarus no longer have the skid plate or 2-speed transfer case, but the used 2008 Outback I bought over a year ago with over 150k miles on it has AWD and handles great.
I believe our Murano had a 4 lo AWD switch.
You are comparing apples and oranges. You need to figure out which it is you need. A real 4x4 or a fake 4x4…
A Escape or Murano; these modern suv/crossover vehicles are just cars with all wheel drive. If you take these into off road situations they will fail. They are made for bad weather and dirt roads, nothing more. The best of these vehicles is and has always been the Subaru.
A Jeep or Truck with 4 wheel drive is much more robust machine made for some endurance where the roads end. I'd suggest a Toyota 4runner for an suv as you seem to be leaning.
Would you even know what to do with a 4WD Low range, Sparky? WHY do you think you NEED it?
- Which recent model of Ford SUV is fuel economical? I see many sleek Ford SUVs these days. What could attract me to own one is not the sleekness but the fuel economy. Which model should i be looking at?
- Can i get out of a ford lease early? Or get a new car early? After my 2004 GTO broke down, i was forced to lease a 2014 Focus, for 3 years and had to get extended miles. Its been about 5 months since i've had the car and so far i hate it. Slow, cheaply made, stereo is terrible, no traction in winter, i don't like it at all. Is there any chance of getting out of the lease early or turning it in without hurting my credit, or even turning it in to lease a different car. Possibly a truck or taurus. Has anyone else been in this situation?
- What are some good things to do to my 2007 Ford V6 Mustang to get some more power and performance? I want to get more power and better performance out of my V6 and no I don't want to trade up for a V8. I inherited this car and its paid off and only has 11,000 miles on it. Not to mention sentimental value so please leave your hate for V6s for someone else. I just want to know some cost effective ways to get more out of my stang. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
