Radiator coolant tank for a Ford?
So I was driving and I noticed white smoke/steam coming from the hood. I pop the hood open and the coolant tank that connects to the radiator (the thing where you pour 50/50 and water in to keep the radiator from overheating, I forgot what it's called) sprung a leak. It is squirting out of the top and leaking out at the bottom. So where can I find a coolant tank thing for a 2001 Ford Escape XLT V6 Engine? Am I going to have to call the Ford company and track one down? The tank thing is plastic.
An auto parts store has one or a junk yard but you need to troubleshoot why it did that.
JUNK YARDS or find part number and GOOGLE IT! This happened for a REASON though! Are you using ONLY FORD COOLANT in there! RAD tank can melt down or even EXPLODE if coolant pressure is TOO HIGH! This may happen in a MILD over heat of engine or if the head bolts OVER S T R E T C H. This would allow compression pressure to LEAK past head gasket and into COOLING SYSTEM! NEW head bolts are about a $40-50 set! You Can't use PRESTONE in these engines and your engine works it's VERY BEST with MOBIL ONE 0W-30 engine oil in it! You have some work to do here! Find the CAUSE of the problem first! It MIGHT also be a leak in the INTAKE GASKET set, which is a MUCH cheaper repairjob!
Its called a reservoir. Try your local parts store.
0W-30 is NOT approved for this engine. Robert just makes this stuff up without consulting owner's manual or manufacturer specs. Following Robert's advice can get you into big trouble.
These Fords are KNOWN for bursting the seam on the reservoir. It's a factory defect. Any auto parts store can get you a new one. DON'T buy a junkyard unit. It'll just burst again along the same seam.
Why am i smelling gas in ny car
- Radiator ford taurus 2001? I just. Changed the. Radiator to a new one the old one. Clogged. Rust. Should I flush when new one on or Don't. Flush
- My 99 ford Taurus has a milky brown fluid in the coolant tank. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? The engine oil is fresh, with no milky color. It is an amber brown. the tranny fluid is pink/red my car will start, however it will not leave park. The gear shift will move but the car will not leave park. someone said it could be my head gasket however the car NEVER ran hot nor did it have any white smoke. ill take any suggestions or help offered.
- Can I pour head gasket sealer into my coolant tank? I have a 2002 Mercury Sable (Ford Taurus) with coolant leaking from the head gasket. There's no actual radiator cap or hose for me to access with the Blue Devil head gasket sealer I have. Will it work if I put it into my coolant tank?
- 2002 ford taurus coolant bubbling out of coolant tank cap? Coolant is bubbling out of the tank cap on my taurus. The coolant is a bit over the fill to line. The coolant is the normal green color. I don't think it having a bit of extra coolant in the tank is doing this. The cap itself maybe? I just bought this car and it didn't do this until today.
