Help with my 2010 Ford Escape?

I have a 2010 Ford Escape.About a week ago my car died on me while I was driving.Wehn i pulled over to re start it, the car started up and then died right away.So i bought some fuel injector cleaner and put it in the tank and the next day went back and tried it and it started right up and drove fine all week. Then again today it started doing the same thing, as soon as I slowed down, it died. I put some more fuel injection cleaner er in the tank on top of more gas and I got it to go and made it back to work. Any idea what this is or could be?

The 2010 Escape, along with several years around it, has a recall on the fuel pump because of it suddenly and spontaneously doing exactly that. The recall is good to 100,000 miles. So if your Ford Escape has under 100,000 miles, all you have to do is take it into a dealership and they'll switch it for free. When mine did that, it was covered. I saw the bill, though. Even if I had paid for it, the total bill was only something like $150. I remember the fuel pump itself was $96. The rest was labor. It all got charged to Ford, though. Anyway, if you've got more than 100,000 miles, you'll have to pay for it, but luckily it's not that much. I just looked it up, and the 2010 also has a recall on the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) that causes fuel to leak and not get delivered to your engine, which will then cause it to die, so it could be that, too. You should have a dealership pull your VIN and see if those recalls on your vehicle have ever been addressed. If not, it's almost certainly that. If they have, then you might want to investigate a little further before paying to replace either because it might not be that. The recalls fixed the problems.

When it does not start, spray starting fluid on the intake or spray starter fluid on a disconnected vacuum line (disconnect the far end of the vacuum line so fluid goes to the intake, reconnect vacuum line after) and try to start. If it starts then dies, check for a bad fuel pump (check for power and ground at the pump connector while cranking). No power, check for incoming and outgoing power at the fuel pump driver module. If you can't do this, take your vehicle to a mechanic. And yes, check if your vehicle has a recall for the pump and module and if it is still covered.

I would check the condition of the fuel pump, filter etc…
