Headlight socket wire is wrapped around something?

I went to change my low beams 2015 Ford Escape, the connecter that's attactched to the car with the wires (not sure of the proper term) seems to be wrapped around something. I finally was able to grab the socket and pull it out but it's not enough to where I can attach my bulb into it. It's too short. So I'm thinking the wire got wrapped around something like got pushed down somehow. How can I fix this?

We can't see it from here. Get a Flashlight and look to see if it's wrapped around something and unwrap it. If the socket or wiring is damaged you can buy a replacement. It would be called a Low Beam Socket Pigtail that would have the socket and wires to splice in. It would be color coded like yours. You can go to a Parts Store and ask them if they have it or can order it. If you ask nicely they would probably come out and look at yours to see if you really need it.

It's most likely wrapped around the bulb retaining spring and we ofter find that problem in our workshop.
The solution is to get a mirror so you can see the problem, then untangle the wire from the spring and then replace the light bulb.

  • Speed pulse wire location? Today i had to take the stereo out in my Ford Galaxy 2002. Anyway, as i done it the speed pulse wire (thin purple wire) came away from the yellow plug and now i don't know where it goes. As a result my cruise control has stopped working and i have no Automatic Volume Control displaying on the stereo when i scroll through. Does anyone know what pin the damn wire is supposed to be connected to please. Explain in idiots terms:-)
  • Socket size to remove starter? I have a 2004 Ford ranger 2 wheel drive with a 3.0 6 cylinder. I was able to get the 2 mounting bolts on the bottom with a 13 mm. However the socket set I have only goes to 14 mm. What size do I need to have to get the last bolt located on top near the solenoid?

  • I took my car throughout car wash and water filled up the left headlight and blew the bulbs! What caused this? My car is a 2006 Ford Freestyle and I've had it for a few years now. Do I have to take off the whole assembly or can I just take the headlight out and fix it?
