Car shopping: Chevy cruz/5 seater cars good with Small kids?

We have 2 kids (5 and 8 months). We have a third on the way. We have a Ford Escape right now. It's getting too small. There's no room for a third car seat in the back. We went to a dealership yesterday and we found a Dodge Journey. 7 seater, everything we have ever wanted in a vehicle. (They gave us a 3 day permit to test it out and let us have time to think it over while driving it.) But the only thing is, the monthly payments are way over budget. My husband doesn't really get this and is all for getting this vehicle but isn't thinking clearly or ahead. I mean, we can afford it, but it'll be extremely financially tight. So I don't want to get it because I stress a lot over money. I was looking at another vehicle that will definitely fit our budget, even below budget. It's a 2017 Chevy Cruze. I love it. It looks really spacious in the back like it'll fit 3 car seats. I think this will be the best option for us. Has anyone put 3 car seats in the back of a 5 seater car? I looked in the back of 5 seaters and the Chevy Cruze has more room than other car even my Ford Escape. Please don't tell me to buy a car straight up with no payments. That's not an option.

You'll have to take your carseats to the dealership and test to see if they fit.

I find carseats quite bulky, so you are going to have to bring your carseats to the dealership and try. I doubt they can be placed in a row without one interfering with another. You might need to get a bigger car, or stick with what you have for a little while longer, to save up for a larger vehicle. You should also look into getting a car that is already "old" (like a 2016 or 2015 chevy cruz for example), as that will cut down the costs considerably.

Always trust your instincts… And go with them.

If you take a car home for 3 days that's WAY over your budget, you are very close to making a huge mistake.
Cruze isn't a great car by any means.

Each and every time you trade cars you lose thousands in value. So plan ahead & don't make rash decisions.

Oftentimes the prudent thing is to do nothing and manage with your old car while counting the savings as compared to doing something.

  • What small block V8 would be good for this car? I'm going to get the motor replaced in a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500. What would be a good small block V8 to get for it? It currently has a 351W in it. The Original motor was a 352. Also, who is a good supplier?
  • Union Pasific Car Shopping? So my father is an engineer for UP, 2-3 years now. I know it depends on the state, but how much of a discount is the "Supplier Discount"? I've heard up to 15%? I live in TX. I don't want to ask the dealer at Ford or Kia, i was told to see what's the lowes i can get the final sale and THEN show them the UP discount offer, and they have to lower it. Has anyone used their UP discount at a dealership? Is it 15% or 1%?
  • Should I turn my car into a 4 seater or 5 seater? I have a 1979 Ford Fairmont Boxtop 2-Door. It currently seats 6 people (3 on the front benchseat and 3 in the rear). Should I turn it into a 4 seater (2 in the front and 2 in the back). Or a 5 seater (2 in the front and 3 in the back).
