Car idling at 4000 rpm in park, what could this be?
I have a 2004 Ford Escape, and I was driving it home from work and the brake seemed harder to push to stop, then as I was getting off the highway I took my feet off everything and it was going 50km without me hitting any pedals, then I got into my condo parking lot and parked my car in my spot put it in park and all of a sudden it's rmps just go from like 1 or 2 thousand to 4000. Anyone have any clue what this could be?
Hi so what about getting a car serviced when it needs it. As it is an old car it needs servicing just as much as new one. It all need spares being such an old car. So time to getting it seen to.
Faulty computer and it is RPM's
Take the IAC out and clean with carb cleaner, they will get carbon build up in them, DON't push or pull the plunger looking thing when it is out spray it good then spray a little W D 40 in it reinstall, you will have to unhook battery to clear computer, do this first install IAC plug the plugin back into it reconnect battery crank, let it idle a few minutes for computer to relearn IAC.
I've seen carb cleaner ruin IAC valves. Use throttle body cleaner instead. Touching the two battery cable together after disconnecting them from the battery will discharge any electrical feedback in the system. Make sure all of you hoses and air filter bellows are not cracked of disconnected.
- Why won't my car stay idling? I just put a new fuel pump on my 1976 ford gran torino and it won't idle at all unless I fill the fuel bowl up and when I do that it will idle for a little bit and then when I start it up again it will idle for a little bit less then a little bit less and so on until it won't idle at all?
- Car consumes 3/4 Quart of Oil for first 1000 miles and basically stays at a 1/4 for another 4000 miles? I have been noticing this for sometime, no visible leaks underneath, no drips either and I have been looking and checking pretty routinely, what would cause after a oil change for the car to consume 3/4 of a quart for the first 1000 miles and then basically stay at a 1.4 for another 4000 miles? Vehicle is 2006 Ford Taurus SE OHV 3.0 note. When I say a quarter. I'm talking about the 1/4 line (amount) on the dipstick from full to re-fill
- 2006 Ford Ranger, lack of power and rough idling, what could be the problem? I have a 2006 Ford Ranger manual 4 x 4 sport, with 160,000 km (100,000 miles) that I bought back in August. It ran well until today. On my way to work, I drove a few blocks when I noticed when I accelerated there was little power, and it was idling rough. I drove it back home and noticed there was this black soot coming out of the exhaust. I can't have it seen until the 2nd, so I'm just looking for any insight on what the problem can be.
- What RPM should my car idle while driving and what RPM should I shift? I have a 2003 Ford Mustang V6. 5 speed manual transmission. This is not the first manual car I've owned, but I'm curious. I never really look but I've read in some places that in order to save gas you should shift at 2 RPM before I used to shift at around 3-3.5 RPM. Also what's a good RPM my car should idle at while I'm in gear? Let's say I'm driving in 3rd gear. What's the ideal RPM to stay at before needing to shift.
