Can you increase tow capacity on a crossover SUV?

I have a 2015 ford escape with a 2.0 liter eco-boost i4 engine. The towing capacity is 2,000lbs. I ask is there any way to pump that number up a bit? And what does rowing capatcity reall mean? If i tried towing something that was 2100lbs would the rig just not budge?

That suspension isn't meant to tow more then 2,000 lbs even if the engine could tow 3,000 lbs you'd destroy your suspension and transmission there's a lot of factors that go into towing not just engine power it would still love if you towed over 2,000 lbs but like I said it's going to possibly ruin your car

The towing capacity can be increased, yes. Stonger parts increase the towing capacity, for example by amplifieing the axels, the suspension and the transmission. At a certain level, the frame would need to be ampliefied too, to withstand the towed weight. To tow or to row is the same, the towing capacity is same as the rowing capacity.

from 2000lbs to 2100lbs its only a little percentage overload, there are vehicles with far more overload and they drive too in public traffic, likely it won't hurt anything to drive with that little overload.
