Am I crazy or is my transmission having a issue?
My old car had a junk transmission that I drove for 2 years and in April I decided to buy a new car. It's a 2017 Ford Escape S. Within the last month of driving it I shift into drive and take off. The car goes just fine in first gear then it pops into neutral and the car slows down until the car jolts because it put itself into second gear. Then shifts as usual unless I stop at a red light and it repeats itself again. It was very sporadic so I didn't think much of it however it's doing it a lot more over the last week. Also it's being sluggish on the highway which is a brand new issue. It goes but it doesn't have the spark it usually has that really gets it moving (to me it really does go fast considering it's a 4cyl CUV). I'm bringing it to the dealer do you think it's worth a mention or is this normal? I'm really not sure. No other symptoms or lights
Added (1). My car has about 5 thousand miles btw
How can you think it's normal for a vehicle to pop into neutral while you're driving?
This is precisely why you have a warranty. If you don't mention it, they won't fix it. Pretty simple, huh?
Take it back its under warranty
1) Read the owners manual thoroughly about the basic operation of the vehicle and be sure you're not doing something stupidly wrong.
2) Mention anything to the dealer that you do not think is right. It's far safer and smarter to embarrass yourself due to ignorance rather than overlook something that might be important.
3) Ifr you're doing jackrabbit starts all the time and driving it too hard, don't expect it to last the life of the loan.
What's wrong with you? You're having problems with your vehicle and you ask us if you should mention it when you go to the dealer? Your car is under warranty! You just planning on driving it ****** up until the warranty runs out and you find out you needed a transmission or other repairs?
This is a simple solution, take it to either the dealer or the mechanics.
The problem with your car is that it's a Ford.
Return that junk and get a Toyota, a Honda or a Nissan.
From what you wrote, there seems to be a PROBLEM! Bring your NEW CAR to the DEALERSHIP and COMPLAIN! The car has a WARRANTY!
Answer: Maybe BOTH! Your car IS having a problem AND you obviously have a PROBLEM with your THINKING PROCESS!
Bring it back to the dealer and get it repaired under warranty.
No bc your driving a piece of American hunk of of junk lol
- My '06 Ford Taurus is having what i'm assuming transmission problems, any ideas? The other day while attempting to back up a small slope, my engine revved up and a message came on the info area of my dash saying to check the transmission. I turned off the car, turned it on and the check engine light was on. I go home and check the trans fluid and it's full. The next day I start my car and the check engine light is off, but now my car shakes on heavy acceleration and gear changes. I'm not a car person. Any ideas?
- Can you get a 2015 ford mustang and Chevy camaro in automatic transmission instead of manual transmission? Hi, I'm thinking about buying a 2015 ford mustang or Chevy camaro. Both of the cars come in manual transmission! Is it possible to get it in automatic transmission instead? Can I just ask the dealer (dealership) to give me the car with automatic transmission or do I have to change it myself?
- Higher RPM and transmission issue - ford car? Hi i have this higher rpm at start in my 10year old ford card… Where my rpm raises to 3000 at the time of start. i now have a transmission problem and that requires rebuilt. is ther a relation between this higher rppm at start issue and eventually failure in transmission,. could the higher rpm issue might have caused the transmission failure.
- 2012 Ford Fusion SE transmission issue? A while back I started driving from a complete stop and my car wouldn't shift to a higher gear. I pulled over, made sure I was in drive not low, put the car in neutral and attempted to drive again. It drove and shifted however the car seems to have less power and shifts later than before this happened. Any idea why this happened, and/or if I need to have a repair done and what that repair would be? The car has almost 87,000 miles.
