Cost of tune-up for 2007 ford edge?

My Ford edge has about 100k. It run fine except MPG has gone down. I want a tune up and check with a local garage and they say it will 350 to do a tune-up because their computers say it will take 2 and half hours. Is this right? What ever happen to changing the plugs and wires?

Some vehicles require a lot more labor than others to tune up. For example, I had a 1992 Cavalier Z-24 that was very expensive to tune up because they had to rock the engine forward to get to the rear three plugs on the horizontally opposed engine. You might want to get a couple more opinions, and ask what is involved in the tune-up that it costs so much.

The plugs on the rear bank are probably buried against the firewall and a major PITA to get out/replace.

Call the Ford dealer and ask them how much it will be, then you have a basis for comparison

And voterepublican - your Z24 did not have a horizontally opposed engine, it was a V6. There hasn't been a horizontally opposed engine in a Chevy since the Corvair.

2.5 hours is actually pretty optimistic IMHO. The rear plugs are difficult at best to get to. These days a tune up is just mainly replacing the spark plugs, and maybe an air filter and fuel filter. Your car has coil on plug ignition, you don't replace the wires/coils unless there's a problem with them.
