If you want the motor to last I'd recommend changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles if using regular motor oil or every 5,000 miles if using synthetic oil. Bottom line is don't let your oil get black on the dipstick or drop more than half the way between the upper and lower dipstick marks.

If you used the vehicle in mostly city driving, then about every 8000km would be a pretty good number. 12000km if you do alot of highway driving, and by highway driving I mean constant speeds of around 120 KPH or more comprises 75% of your driving, Both these numbers are assuming you're using the specified oil and filter.
