Is a 2001 Ford F250 XLT a good truck?

It has a v8 engine and I was wondering if anyone that has this type of car know if it sucks up a lot of gas and is it a good car to have?

First off, it's a truck through and through. At no point did it suddenly become classified as a car as you state in your elaboration.
Second, the F-250 is a good truck, however the gasoline models are very thirsty beasts. The 5.4 V8 models only get 10-15mpg on average and the 6.8 V10 models get even less than that. If you're looking for fuel efficiency, your best bet is to get a 7.3L powerstroke turbo diesel version. Yes the engine is bigger, but it can get over 20mpg if you are light enough on the pedal. Not to mention that engine is extremely robust and hardly anything major ever goes wrong with them.

  • Ford 2001 F-150 XLT won't start with new battery? A few days ago I learned my battery was bad so I bought a new one. I installed it and suddenly my truck won't start. I had been able to jump it with the old battery but now it won't even do that. It will crank but will not start. I have checked the inertia switch which was pressed down. I don't have the equipment to check the fuel pump or the pressure in the line. Is there anything else I can check on before I have it towed and pay a bunch of money to a mechanic to look at it?
  • Why won't my 1990 Ford F250 Lariat XLT start? I've ben having trouble turning the key in the ignition like it's gummy in there or something, for a few days. T's been very hot lately and today I had to use both hands to turn the starter. Went to the bank, came home, squirted a little WD40 around the ignition… Now the ignition turns just fine, but the engine won't start, just makes a whirring noise. The engine has full power, everything works, but engine won't crank, just makes a whirring noise.
