I want a diesel ford f250 (7.3L turbo) please talk me out of it. Or is it reasonable?

I have no legit reason for needing a diesel truck. I just Really want one as opposed to the gas counterpart. The immense joy I would get out of starting that beast and driving it would be worth the extra cost of the maintenance to me. I've done EXTENSIVE research on both the 1999-2003 f250s and the 7.3 engine. I know a good deal about their issues but mostly about their awesome performance and longevity. The problem is, I live in central Illinois where we have bitterly cold winters. I have no place to plug it in. I wouldn't drive it every day. More like every other. I'm a college student. I work 2 part time jobs and pull probably enough cash to pay for it but please give me more info on why or why not it'd be a good or bad idea to buy one of these trucks just for the joy of it.

You need Jesus.

I personally think that there's no reason not to have fun. Jesus disagrees, though.

Are you a boy or a girl? Every boy will find a need for the truck.
I bough. A 1975 f250. 360 cu v8. 4x4. Came stock with 33"s.
I bought it cuz it was pretty. Gets 8mpg. It's literally sitting in my yard, waiting for WW3. So… I don't know.

You wanted talked out of it? Diesels cost at least twice as much to maintain. Buying a used one is always a bad idea cuz the original owner sold it cuz replacement parts r too expensive and he apparently thinks he's about to start replacing ****.
Sorry man.

Don't look at me. I have a screaming yellow diesel F-250 that I just drive around in. Occasionally I'll carry something in the bed, like a piece of furniture to help a friend, but I need it like another hole in the head. BUT, I NEEDED IT!

Unless you have a place to plug in your truck in order for it to start during the winter months and have the joy of driving around in a late 1990's early '00 F-250 7.3 power-stroke then you could consider looking for one and making the payments on it.
