Ford Starter/flywheel issues?
Hi, I have an 1986 Ford F-250 with a 4 Speed tranny 4wd I recently took the 460 motor out and dropped a inline six in it. I got everything hooked up and ready to go. When I went to fire it all it did was clicked I checked all the terminals and all the grounds, hit the key and it clicked. So I tested the starter and the starter went bad, I bought a new starter fired it and now the starter isn't catching the flywheel to turn over. I tightened the starter bolts to suck it in some more and still nothing. So I'm not exactly sure what else to do?
On many engines there's more than one flywheel… More than one starter… Very true for small block Ford… Things to check… Diameter of flywheel… Depth of ring gear on flywheel… Number of teeth on flywheel vs number of teeth on starter… Depth of starter gear at fully extended position…
- Where is the starter motor on a 1.7 ford puma? My puma is just making a click when I try and turn it on. It has had a new battery in the last couple of weeks and it has been doing this for 2 days. First it would click a couple of times then start now it is just clicking so I believe its the starter motor. I want to check the connections before I buy a new one but don't know where it is?
- How do I determine the tooth cound on a flywheel without removing it? I have a 1966 ford ranchero with a 351 windsor motor in it, the starter went out on it the other day and I need to know the tooth count on the flywheel so I buy the right starter, is there a way to do this without removing the whole thing?
- Ford Focus mk2 2.0 Tdci flywheel? Iv had my clutch and flywheel replaced but I just want to know if it's normal to feel vibration through cutch pedal only when it's about a centimetre of the floor if it's all the way down you can hardly feel it the clutch place said it's normal but this is the 3rd flywheel they have fitted within 3000 miles
