Can I mount a 4 barrel carburetor on my 72 Ford f250 without changing the intake manifold?

It is a 1972 ford f250 with a 390 v8. Is there a compatible adapter plate for the 2 barrel manifold?

Maybe, but the restriction of necking-down to the two BBL intake manifold pretty much shoots any advantages. Look for a 500cfm two BBL Holley, I think the part # is 4412, & make sure you get one with the idle circuits.

Waste of time and money. Buy a four-barrel manifold and do it right.

Yeahbut, a Mr. Gasket adapter kit is only going to help you waste more gas.

The 390 is a gas hog and a stone as well… You are wasting your time and money if power or economy is what you are looking for!

  • Vacuum leak between carburetor and intake manifold? I have a 1966 ford f100 with a 390. After taking off the carb to clean it, I noticed a rough idle and fuel leaking from between the carburetor and intake manifold. So I replaced the gasket with a gasket specifically for Holley carburetors, but that didn't stop the leak. Any ideas? Would there be any reason the manifold or bottom of the carb would need to be resurfaced? Is sealant ever used?
  • Rubber hose at intake manifold? I have a Ford Contour and need to know what and where the soft rubber hose at the intake manifold is. I just need to know what it is and where I can go buy one. I want to order it and install it as soon as possible. Please don't suggest asking a mechanic or auto store.
  • What Ford vehicles with a 302 motor comes with a 4 barrel carb (and only comes 302 with a 4bc)? I have a 1989 mustang gt motor and I'm making it carbureted and I'm looking for any vehicle with a 302 that carries a 4b. I'm going to a junkyard where they don't help with finding vehicles, so it would be helpful to know what vehicles only have a 302 with a 4bc, that way I can look it up on the website and know exactly where its at.
  • Can I mount any supercharger to a mustang? I will be getting a 3.8L v6 2004 Ford Mustang soon, and I want to know if I could use a cheaper OEM supercharger and mount/custom mount it to the block. I know that if I wanted high amounts of boost I would need forged internals but I'm planning on just giving it a good 5 or 6lbs. Would I also need a special cooling system as well? I would appreciate anything.
