Vacuum leak between carburetor and intake manifold?

I have a 1966 ford f100 with a 390. After taking off the carb to clean it, I noticed a rough idle and fuel leaking from between the carburetor and intake manifold. So I replaced the gasket with a gasket specifically for Holley carburetors, but that didn't stop the leak. Any ideas? Would there be any reason the manifold or bottom of the carb would need to be resurfaced? Is sealant ever used?

Spray Carb. Cleaner with a Nozzle Extention on the Manifold ( cold Engine ). The RPM will Increase in Area of Leak… Light Sealant on gasket.Manifold can Warp Out…

There's more than one type of gasket for a Holley. You must get one that matches the manifold AND the carb.

Did you take the carb apart? Anyway, the bowl is filling up too much with gas causing the rough idle and gas leaking from the bottom. Either the floats are set too high, or more probably, there's rust or crud of some kind on the needle & seat causing gas to over fill the bowl and spill down the carb barrels. Then leaking so you could see it.

  • Rubber hose at intake manifold? I have a Ford Contour and need to know what and where the soft rubber hose at the intake manifold is. I just need to know what it is and where I can go buy one. I want to order it and install it as soon as possible. Please don't suggest asking a mechanic or auto store.
  • I have a 1999 ford ranger and i have coolant in one of my vacuum lines? Its the red line that runs to the egr vacuum mod on the passenger side of the motor. The part that the egr line goes to as well. I'm not sure why I have coolant running through a vacuum line. This causes coolant to run to the egr valve so I need to fix it
  • My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
