1990 Ford f-250, squealing when accelerating?

My dad has a 1990 Ford F-250 Lariat. When I drive it, I've noticed that when the gas pedal is depressed around 1/3 or 1/4 of the way, the truck makes a quiet squeal like noise. It's such a high noise that my dad can't hear it (he's in his 50's btw). Nothing really changes it, like revs, if it's actually accelerating, or anything. Just hoping it isn't something serious.

Nothing big on the truck has been changed. Recently we replaced the spark plugs and wires, and put on a new distributor cap and rotor (efi system though).

Probably a belt squeal, it happens when an accessory drive belt slips slightly on a pulley. Sometimes you can adjust them, but more often they should just be replaced. They are usually under 20 or 30 bucks and take about 30 mins to install. If you have a serpentine belt they are more expensive.

_______

squeak or high pitch squeal. May be belts slipping, and/ or pulley seized or starting to seize,

if noise is whistle and not squeak, may be vacuum air values leaking oe just working normal and sound is merely frequency of noise at the speed/ rpm.

if noise is from engine why not park, and have someone rev engine, to check for noise under hood, could be anything to do with moving parts and pulleys, or vacuum and air intake,
_______

if not engine and only while drive, that speed/ motion causes squeal, could be simple as wind noise through body, or some parts as brakes or transmission causing noise due to actions, or something needs oiling or lubricating, or frequency is metal part scraping and may be out of alignment with structure or frame as muffler, or wheels, or axle merely wearing at point linkage,
________

if belt tension pulley seized, oil/ grease, or replace,
if belt itself slipping, tighten or replace,

if part cause while moving, check underneath for wear, or test at garage with tread mill rollers, /chassis dynamometer,
.

First thing to do is check the serpentine belt for tightness & wear.

Take a look at the drive belt.

  • Obnoxious squealing noise in car? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus and it's making a squealing noise. I had the serpentine belt replaced and all the pulleys cleaned off and checked and it's still squealing. Any ideas on what it could be?
  • 07 Ford Taurus jerking when accelerating after stops? The car was jerking after being warmed up, and then I would be at a stop light. After accelerating, the car would drive normal, I'd watch the RPM's increase to almost 3 and then a hard jerk and then it kept going. Added Lucas Trans Fix and the jerking stopped but not the RPM's go past 3 and it shifts but sometimes makes a grinding noise. The Check Transmission light comes on after idling for a bit. Any idea what could be wrong?
  • Ford ranger 3.0 v6 sputters when accelerating? My engine sputters when accelerating (especially after it's be warmed up or it's been sitting on a hot day) what could cause this? Coil pack? I've got new spark plugs inside. Does it need an ECU tune up? I'm also using 89 octane which helps but doesn't solve the problem
  • Why is my engine squealing? I drive a 2000 Ford Mustang v6. The engine was making quite a bit of noise while driving, so I decided to replace the serpentine belt. However, I noticed no change at all in the noise. Also, the squeaking continues for a short time even after I cut the engine and the serpentine belt stops moving all together. Leads me to believe it isn't a belt or bearing issue, but not sure what else it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
