Ford ranger 3.0 v6 sputters when accelerating?
My engine sputters when accelerating (especially after it's be warmed up or it's been sitting on a hot day) what could cause this? Coil pack? I've got new spark plugs inside. Does it need an ECU tune up? I'm also using 89 octane which helps but doesn't solve the problem
If it's sputtering when hot, I would suspect something electrical such as a coil pack(might have hair line cracks in the plastic part), plug wires, a drippy injector. Electrical stuff fails under heat. Check for proper fuel pump pressure with a gauge also. See if there are any misfire owr DTC codes in the PCM. Plug a scanner in and watch the various activities happening with the sensors. Fuel trims should be +-5%.
Change the fuel filter first! It could be fuel problems!
Misfire under acceleration can be bad plugs, wires, coils. To fix it right at the lowest cost, get it professionally scanned. That way you'll know exactly which cylinder is misfiring.
- I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Lx, it sputters and hesitates during acceleration? I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Lx, it sputters and hesitates during acceleration! It doesn't go pass 25 mph but will reach 5 rpms! Changed spark plugs and wires! Also changed coil pack! Both converters are working properly! Check engine light is not on! Doesn't run hot! Tire pressure indicator comes on though! Not sure what my next step is! I need help!
- 07 Ford Taurus jerking when accelerating after stops? The car was jerking after being warmed up, and then I would be at a stop light. After accelerating, the car would drive normal, I'd watch the RPM's increase to almost 3 and then a hard jerk and then it kept going. Added Lucas Trans Fix and the jerking stopped but not the RPM's go past 3 and it shifts but sometimes makes a grinding noise. The Check Transmission light comes on after idling for a bit. Any idea what could be wrong?
- 1998 Ford Escort SE shuddering upon accelerating? I have a 1998 Ford Escort SE with 214,000 miles on it. Occasionally, when I start the vehicle put it in drive and take off the vehicle will start to shudder when I accelerate the vehicle. The weird thing is when I take the vehicle out of drive into neutral and back into drive it stops and runs fine. Any clues? Fuel pump was just replaced so I know it's not that.
- Why is my 2001 Ford Escape not accelerating fast enough? I went on the freeway today, trying to get up to 75 mph and I could only get up to 65 mph for a while. My RPMs were going up faster than my actual speedometer, and my foot was on the gas, to the floor.
