Does the mileage on a truck matter if the engine was replaced?

I'm thinking of buying a 1989 Ford F100 and the original miles are over 300,000+ But the engine is new and the miles on it now are at 8,000+. Is this a good buy, especially for $5K… The truck looks brand new.

Transmissions seldom last past 200,000 miles. Then you have the shocks and the rest of the suspension parts that may be worn out by now. Exhaust system, tires, brakes, etc. That being said if the body is in good shape and the frame isn't twisted everything can still be replaced when needed. I'm sure to buy a new truck would set you back a good $40,000 plus.

Yes it does matter. The engine is one thing among many. The transmission has the 300K, and all the other system components. You might start having to replace little things here and there as they break. I rebuilt my engine in a 93 after 185k miles and all the other components slowly broke and needed replacing. Like MAF, intake, suspension, axles, and so on

Hi so the fact the rest of the vehicle is also worn out is for sure going to need a lot of spare parts eventually.

Yes it matters, the rest of it wears out also.

Transmission rear end suspension parts all wear

  • My truck gets 23mpg, is this good or bad gas mileage? My daily driver is a 2003 Ford Ranger single cab, great truck and al for mel. It's a 4 banger, and I recently decided to calculate and find out how many miles per gallon it gets and it came out tp 23 miles per gallon, and I rarely drive on the interstate either. If that matters. Is my truck good on gas or is it a guzzler in your opinion?
  • If I want to replace the lifters in a 302 V-8 does it matter what type I put in it as a replacement? My lifters are floating a little I'm going to try an oil change first but if that does not fix the problem would it matter what kind of lifters it has if I replace them. Would i be able to replace them with a different kind of lifter? Ok I have a 1969 Ford Mustang with a 1995 ford mustang 302? How could I tell what kind of lifters are in my engine.
  • Does cheap transmission fluid matter? I gotta do a transmission flush In my 98 Ford Mustang. I'm trying to be as frugal as I can and found transmission fluid at Autozone for $1.99 but employers there said it's cheap fluid. Does cheap transmission fluid make a difference? Or should I just go with the big guns at $5.99+?
  • Pennzoil High Mileage vs Castrol GTX High Mileage? My local auto store has 5 quarts of Pennzoil High Mileage for 16.99, but 5 quarts of Castrol GTX High Mileage on sale for 9.99$. Which one is better, or does it not even matter and I should just get the cheaper one? It's going in a 2002 Ford Focus ZTS with 155*** miles on it.
