Car AC maintenance tips -?
Please advise on some good maintenance tips for my car AC - that will keep my AC troube free for a longer run.
i have a 2004 ford make car- and live in a place that is usually pretty hotter in summer.
is there any coolant or something that i need to check regularrly for low levels.
If it blows cold there's no maintenance necessary. If it ain't blowin as cold of air as it used to get repair. A low charge of refrigeraqnt means lack of lubrication since oils are suspended in the refrigerant. This ruins compressors and orfice tubes from something known affectionately as "BLACK DEATH"
LACK OF LUBRICASTION CAUSES WEAR ON COMPRESSOR AND ACIDS START FORMING INSIDE COMPRESSOP. THESE ACIDS GET PUMPED THRU SYATEM CORRODING ALUMINUM PARTS. THEY TURN BLACK!
always turn a/c off to vent and let blower runs for a few minutes at the end of your drive. This dries out the evaporator and keeps microbes from forming in the ventilation system. You know that gross smell some car a/c systems have? Microbes and bacteria.
Its a closed system, should never need serviced or recharged unless you have a leak, if your having to add to it then you have a slow leak around a seal or gasket some where… If it is ever needed serviced its a good idea to buy a can of Freon that has compressor oil in it… The compressor can go bad… Checking the Freon levels is not needed cause it should not change unless its leaking as I said but id also like to add in every time you do that your letting out some Freon which eventualy will make it low.
No
it is a closed system
- What type of maintenance should I be gettinf on my car? I drive a 2 year old Ford Focus, with 37,000 miles on it. Other than my basic oil changes that I've been getting, what type of maintanence should I have done at my next appointment? I don't know hardly anything about cars, so I don't want to go to the shop and get the run around. All that I know, is it should be time for some type of tune up or maintenance.
- Tips on replacing brake pads on a 2005 ford explorer? I've done lots of brake jobs but always on older pre 2000 cars. -Is it the same on newer cars? -Do I need to mess with proportioning valves or anything? -never done 4 wheel discs so is there a special order in which I should change them or bleed them? - is there any kinda of sensors I need to reset and if so, how do I reset them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- Car radiator maintenance cost? I own a 2000 Ford Explorer with a 5.0L V8 and I recently had to add water to my coolant reservoir (i was in a pinch). I now have coolant but I'm unable to find the drain valve. If i were to take it to a repair shop, how much would it cost for them to flush the water out so I can put the new coolant in? I'm worried that my car will overheat on my way there or back without being able to pay for the service (currently low on $$)
