Any ideas to decrease an oil leak? Ford wanted 3500 to reseal the entire engine?
I changed the PCV valve, the original was fine but it only cost $2 so why not, but ford said that it was leaking from every where. (i'm still thinking lazy mechanic)
Insufficient information (speaking of lazy). What year / model / type engine? Other leaks besides PCV? Valve covers? Oil Pan? Timing cover? Front & Rear seals? Power steering pump? Transmission? Rear end?
That was the classic "lets get rid of the this guy with a ridiculous quote" answer. They don't want to do the work, brake jobs are easier and make more money.
Take it to a local independent shop and ask if they can give you an estimate for the major leak.
Hi simple things take tim to learn even for a lazy guy.
- Wich is stronger chevy duramax 3500, dodge 3500 cummins or the ford f4500 diesle? I know it says their stuff on the website but witch is strongest. Because ignoring the stuff on their sites witch is strongest. I know chevy has the steel frame too
- Restoring old Ford Transit. Can't get engine to start. Any ideas please? Friend is restoring 1976 Transit Diesel. Dry stored and in excellent condition. Re-conditioned injectors, clean fuel. Engine turns over valve-gear working (belt intact). Compression, fuel at injectors, no air in system engine turning over with new battery. Apparently no heater plugs on this engine (2.4). Tried eze-start just 'coughs' but will not actually start. At wits end! Any ideas please?
- My buddy has a 99 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 that is leaking oil from rear passenger wheel. Any ideas on why? The brake cover is not pushed all the way against the hub. There's a half inch gap between them. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. So it has nothing to do with the wheel bearing?
- My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
