Is a 2012 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Ok, so, I'm 17, and me and my parents have been looking at what could be my first car as when my senior year starts, I'll be leaving school earlier but I still have things after school and it won't be easy using parents' cars and using the bus isn't an option. So, we've been looking at affordable used cars, and we found a 2012 Nissan Sentra with 113k miles for $5,000, with a clean CarFax. Is this a good car for a senior in high school, who will likely keep driving this in college?

What's a "good car"? Everybody spits out that phrase, but nobody ever defines it.

Assuming a first-time driver, the Sentra is appropriate because (1) it's not overly fast and (2) insurance costs are not notoriously high. Reliability is about average.

Bad tranny

In 2012 it was. In 2017 after 5 years of use it will depend on how the car was driven, how the car was maintained and how many previous owners the car had.
