What type of oil should I use for 2004 ford Taurus station wagon? - 1
Good oil
Hi with a car of this age any mineral oil would be suitable for a gasoline engine 20w-50 oil. For a diesel engine then a 10w -40 oil would be the desired type.
it would be a waste of money putting in any modern oils as the car is now so worn in the engine parts.
5W-20
Whatever is recommended in the owner's manual.
10W30 standard motor oil from a major manufacturer such as Castrol or Valvoline.
Ford recommends SAE 5w-20 so that is exactly what you should use. Ignore anyone who tells you different. I would recommend you use a High Mileage oil if the car has over 100,000 miles on the odometer. The brand you use is your choice.

- Lost my only key to my car. It's an 02 ford taurus station wagon and has a chip in the key? Ordered and blank key. Going to get it cut then have it programmed. I have an extra key that will unlock my doors but won't start the car because it doesn't have a chip and isn't programmed for my car. Can I use my key that unlocks the door to get it cut and then use my vin to have them program it?
