2002 Ford Mustang GT for a first car?

What do you guys think? I want a "nice" car and a manual, (I drive my moms automatic around fine, no tickets, always following speed limit etc), for a first car do you think it would be fine be fine?

Their cheep and look nice for a start. Give me you opinion or suggestions.

Added (1). I know how to drive a stick shift.

It's a terrible choice. Insurance rates are gonna be astronomical and it will be a gas hog.
I'd recommend an older Toyota Corolla with a manual gearbox. Cheap to feed, own, and they go on and on and on!

Check the cost of insurance before you think that they are cheap.

If you've never driven a manual, you will probably be replacing the clutch soon after you buy it, since it would probably be worn fairly well anyway.

You, you THINK that you know how to drive stick. Yet you say that the primary car you drive is an automatic.

A 14 year old Mustang will spend most of it's time and all of your money, in a repair shop. On it's way to a junk yard. Bad choice, spectacularly bad.

04 Deville

A powerful rear wheel drive when you have not driven a manual.
It will swap ends in a heartbeat if you get it wrong.
You have around a 70% chance of crashing it in the first year. Insurance companies know this.
Here in Europe we have a different rest and license to drive a manual. There's a lot more to it to do it properly.

  • Mustang or jetta for first car? Well I'm getting ready to buy my son his first car and he's really interested in ford mustangs(1999-2004) and volkswagen jettas(2000-2004). Which car is more reliable? Like will it last him a good amount of years? Which car has parts that are cheaper and easier to fix? I'm planning on getting him a base model of either car like just a v6 engine and stuff.
  • Is a Mustang a good first car? I'm a 16 year old male and I'm going to get a car when I get my license. My dad texted me and told me this might be my first car. The car is a 1998 Ford Mustang. It has the 3.8L V6 with a 5-speed manual transmission. I don't know how to drive a manual. The car has 180,000 miles. It's burgundy with a gray cloth interior. It has a dual exhaust and Mustang GT rims. Is it a bad idea? My grampa has a 2000 Ranger that he said I can take any time.
