Mustang or jetta for first car?

Well I'm getting ready to buy my son his first car and he's really interested in ford mustangs(1999-2004) and volkswagen jettas(2000-2004). Which car is more reliable? Like will it last him a good amount of years? Which car has parts that are cheaper and easier to fix? I'm planning on getting him a base model of either car like just a v6 engine and stuff.

The Mustang will be more reliable and cheaper to maintain/repair as the years go by.
European cars are more expensive to maintain/repair in general.

Volkswagen Jetta

Jetta, the insurance will be cheaper than a mustang

Definitely a mustang, much cheaper and easier with parts and maintenance readily available in the States.

Jetta is far more civilized and practical.

Mustang. But treat it well.

Jetta you can beat on it all you want and it will never die

Jetta yeah I can't believe i'm saying this i'm a mustang guy but i've been a European mechanic for 6 years and the jettas are good as long as you take care of them the 99-04 v6 have abunch of issues I know cause I had one

For me "Mustang" is the first car.

  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
  • Is a Mustang a good first car? I'm a 16 year old male and I'm going to get a car when I get my license. My dad texted me and told me this might be my first car. The car is a 1998 Ford Mustang. It has the 3.8L V6 with a 5-speed manual transmission. I don't know how to drive a manual. The car has 180,000 miles. It's burgundy with a gray cloth interior. It has a dual exhaust and Mustang GT rims. Is it a bad idea? My grampa has a 2000 Ranger that he said I can take any time.
  • Is a Ford Mustang v6 2006 a good first car? I'm a new driver and looking to get my first car and I've always had a thing for Mustangs so I figured I night as well get one I first fell in love with which happens to be the v6 2006. Not a really pricey car But is it a good first car?
  • Is a 2005-07 Ford Mustang a good first car for a guy? I'm 15 and getting my permit soon. I want to have a car for practice so I was thinking of getting a little Pontiac g6 to practice on and when I feel like I've progressed to maybe get a 2005-07 mustang! Good idea or no? Please give your thoughts. You can also tell me other good cars but no camrys or civics (not into them).
