Can I use anything as an alternative to power steering fluid in a Ford F150 1994?
You can often use ATF in an emergency, but you need to carefully check the specs of the correct fluid against the ATF specs. On some vehicles the two are fundamentally different and if you get it wrong you'll ruin all the seals in the power steering pump.
- 2001 Ford Taurus power steering fluid leak? My husband bought a new power steering pump and installed it last week, but when he added the power steering fluid it leaked out almost immediately. Any idea of what would cause this?
- Power steering pump burning fluid? I have a 1991 Ford Ranger. The engine was rebuilt so its at around 70,000 miles. I have to refill the power steering fluid a lot. Way more often then I should have to. I can't see any kind of a leak at all and no evidence of one. It also smells horribly burnt. Almost like the pump is just burning through the fluid. Any suggestions or ideas as to what this is and a possible fix?
- Where is my power steering fluid resevoir? I drive a 2002 ford Mustang gt v8 and I'm trying to find my power steering resevoir. I can't seem to see it anywhere under my hood? Any help?
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
