On average, how long does it take for a car to relearn it's fuel trim?
I did a battery/pcm/ecm reset 2 months ago and had noticed that after a reset, my car goes through gas ridiculously fast. I'd say it would use up 5 gallons in 60 mile drive (9-10 miles to and from work in 3 days)
It eventually goes away, but by then I've gone through quite a bit of gas. I've done another reset since then and its the same thing. Just wondering how long it usually takes to relearn the fuel trim and if there's anything I can do to speed it up.
My car is a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.6L
Well those suv only get 13 to 18 MPG's so that sound about right.

I don't think this is what you think. That process is fine tuning from factory default. Yours is using far too much.
Fords are much touchier than most cars about that - what you are experiencing is normal for a Ford. Usually they relearn in a couple days of driving but you may see improvement over as much as a week.
- Location of 1998 Ford Taurus fuel pump. Does it have a fuel cut-off switch? Car shut down suddenyl without warning. New battery and cranks but will not start. Suspect bad fuel filter, 130K miles and fuel filter has never been replaced.
- How long, on average, does a 70's Ford ranger F150 transmission last? Thinking about getting this truck. Guy selling it has papers proving he's had work done for the transmission, but that was 15 years ago. Would I need to worry about the transmission being any good because of age? He's asking 2500, says it drives great. No problems under the hood, just cosmetology.
- How long does it take to update sync3? I downloaded the update to a flash drive and am currently updating it. It's been about a hour and a half and still going. Here's no progress bar so not sure how far along it is. Trying to update it to the sync 3 version 3.0 I think it is. 2016 Ford Mustang.
- How long does it take to sell a car? If I had a used car that's about 3500-7000 pounds (nissan, ford, mini etc), how long would it take to sell on websites such as gumtree, eBay or Craigslist? Obviously I no it will differ, but are we talking hours, days, week, months or what?
