Is it worth fixing head gaskets on a 96 ford explorer?

No one can tell you if it is "worth it" or not.
But some considerations I suggest taking into account are what type of shape the vehicle is in and how reliable it has been for you aside from the head gaskets. If it is otherwise a reliable vehicle, and has relatively low mileage, replacing the head gaskets may be viable option. But if it has other issues, has high mileage, and/or it is rusting away, sinking that type of funds into it may just be a waste of money. Is it your only vehicle, or is it just something that you take out once in a while?
"Worth it" is very subjective. Hi That might depend on how many miles the car has done. I'm assuming it is a v-6 probally not cause it will be a cracked head you won't know until after its torn down

- Replaced cylinder heads and head gaskets, but car is still overheating? 97 Ford Taurus, replaced the cylinder head and head gaskets. Car started fine and we let it run for a while before taking it out for a test drive. After about ten minutes the car started to overheat again, coolant came out and steam came from under hood. We also replaced the thermostat. What other possibilities are there?

- Just had new heads and gaskets installed on Ford Ranger 4.0, along with thermostat and radiator cap. After reaching operating temp, upper? Radiator hose swells to full capacity as if it can't handle more pressure. After engine cools off, hose returns to normal size. Should this be happening?
