1994 Ford Explorer Stalling when I shift gears?
When it is put into Drive or Reverse it stalls out and stops running.
Added (1). Radiator fluid was put into it and shortly after driving it away from Auto Zone it stalled out. I managed to get it running again and down the road to my house. When I parked it in the driveway it stalled again. So testing it I started it and put it into reverse. I'm reading online that this could have to do with the RPMS? Or a dirty air intake?
Added (2). I don't know what you're asking James
Added (3). Definitely going to do that Ponderer. Will edit if anything develops from it.
You could try cleaning the MAF sensor in the intake duct. They sell MAF spray cleaner at the Autozone. Have the key off when you do this. Directions on the can. Dirty IAC is another possibility.
- Gears in my manual transmission Ford Ranger are difficult to shift when the engine is running. Why is this? This usually happens in the morning or if I have not driven in a while usually when its cold out. Once the car gets warmed it gets easier.
- 1997 Ford Ranger 4.0 V6 won't shift into drive after being driven. Takes longer than should to shift into drive when first started? It will go in reverse fine. First thing in the morning when I leave for work, it will shift into drive on it's own, but takes a bit longer than it should. After getting it warm, won't shift into drive at all. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd, then back into drive and it will "pop up" into drive within a second or 2. I also have a ODB2 error P1744 (Torque Converter circuit).
- I have a 2007 Ford Five hundred that when I shift when it's off it moves. But when I turn the car on & shift it won't move It's a TBS transmission. It's not making any noise either. I was told it could be computer on the transmission?
- I have a 1998 Ford Contour and my car will erratically shift gears? Check engine light is on so AutoZone plugged it in and it said "Transmission Range sensor". I bought one but where do I put the new one in? IT IS A 6 CYL, NOT A 4 CYL. I saw a youtube video for changing a 4 cyl but not a 6. Is it in the same place? Same access to it?
