Ford expedition misfiring?
I have a 2001 Ford expedition 5.4l. I recently got caught in a bad storm and drove my truck through a few inches of water. During my drive my truck started to run rough and the "service engine soon" light started to blink. Now my truck runs rough and when I'm at a stop the engine would give a pulse. Took it to orielys and autozone to check for codes and found no codes. After leaving, a few miles later the light came back but stayed solid. What could it be?
Remove all the coils and check the coil wells for moisture.
Do not try and remove plugs without an experienced technician at hand. The Triton Spark Plug is of a very odd design and is prone to fracturing in the cylinder head. Tools are available to remove the insulators that are left behind but you don't want to get into that. My guess is cylinder 4 coil tunnel has water. Seems to be that one all the time. Do not drive too far with a misfire as it will damage the catalytic converter…
- Ford ranger or Ford Expedition? I'm either gonna buy a 1998 ford ranger 2.5 4 cylinder with 240,000 miles for $1200 or a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4 v8 with 128,000 for $2000 which would you choose and which do you think is better they were both taken care of so that's not an issue
- 2000 Ford Ranger Misfiring? I've got a 2000 Ford ranger 3.0 v6 that starting misfiring pretty bad yesterday. I had the code read and it said cylinders 4 and 6 were misfiring. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires about 2 weeks ago and have been driving it everyday with no problems until yesterday. Any ideas on what is causing it to misfire? Should I replace the two wires and plugs again or could it be the ignition coil or what? Any help is appreciated.
- I guess #4 cyclinder misfiring? For check i removed all plug wires one by one. When it came to no.4 idle didn't change. After this, i replaced rotor arm, plugs, wires, cap but still does same thing. i can see spark from cable to cap but with no idle changes @4 what can be the problem? 2.0 Ford pinto engine with weber 32/36
