Would it be wise to use a Ford Model A as a daily driver? Also, what type of car insurance do I need?

Hi, how is everyone doing? Recently my uncle gave me a 1927 Ford Model A and I wanted to use it as my daily driver. But before I get to driving, would it A: be wise to drive the car everywhere, and B: what type of insurance do I need in case someone hits me? I know I probably won't live depending on how hard I get hit, but if I do live I wanted my car to be paid for so it can be repaired and fixed fully without me paying for anything.

Could anyone help me out here? I wanted to drive around in style. Do I need to do anything particular if I decide to get insurance for my car? I already installed seat belts, reverse lights, and turn signals, so am I good to go?

If you can find a model A dirt cheap under $5,000 you can just drive it with liability insurance.

I can help you with this, but it involves a lot of reading. I'll try to keep the technical mumbo-jumbo to a minimum, just because you asked an intelligent question and you asked nicely. That's rare in here. Anyway…

Yes you can use an antique vehicle as a daily driver, but no it's not wise. With every click of the odometer, every hour exposed to the elements, you're watching hundreds if not thousands of dollars go down the drain. Collector vehicles only hold their value if they're kept in pristine condition, and condition is everything to a collector. If you drive this thing around for a year, even if you only drive it on days with perfect weather, it will quickly cease to be a collector vehicle. It will just be really old, because collectors value condition above all else without exception.

But, having said that, it's entirely your decision. If your vehicle is legal for the road, you can use it as a daily driving vehicle. That means you no longer qualify for those speciality policies, the ones where you can have 'full' coverage on an antique car for $200 per year, because those policies don't cover regularly driven vehicles. You'll have to insure this thing on a normal owner's auto policy (standard auto insurance), and you'll want to have it insured to its appraised value for at least the next two years.

Where I live, that agreement is called OPCF 19A - Agreed Value of Automobile. It's used exclusively for high value collector vehicles, and it means your insurance company agrees that your vehicle is worth $___ in the event of a total loss. Keep in mind that this doesn't cost less than having insurance on a 1999 Toyota Camry, it costs a whole lot more. That's because you can kill just as many people with your 1929 Model A as you can with a 1999 Camry, the only difference is the repair bill for your vehicle.

Personally, I would keep that old Ford in indoor storage and covered in bubble wrap, because ten years from now it will be absolutely priceless if kept in pristine condition. But I'm not you, and it's not my car, so do as you will and have fun doing it.

Not wise at all. Obi Wan Knievel from what I read in his/her answer we need more detail but the fact is that it's very unwise to do so.

It's not fast enough for freeways or highways.
A 1927 model A is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars? I don't know for sure but it's worth a lot of money.
Obviously, they don't make them anymore period and parts for them are scarce. So

1) if someone hits you or you hit someone or something it's going to be very difficult to prepare not only is it going to be difficult to repair it's going to be very very very very extremely expensive to repair.

2) if someone hits you and the accident is deemed their fault there's no way in hell they're going to afford being able to pay for the repairs unless you get lucky and get it by a billionaire or something that has thousands of dollars to waste.

Not even close to a good idea to use a Model A as your daily driver. It's actually a very stupid idea.

Troll master strikes again. First car questions got old.

I wouldn't. Fords aren't really reliable:/

The insurance must bear the details of the car.
If the car gets repaired because of damaged road, v must inform the government.
But then v can get the insurance money for giving information.
