Why does Ford call Utes trucks in its ads?

Makes them seem American, like they are calling utes trucks who does that

Added (1). These answers aren't helpful, the ads are Australian made.

Ford do, that's who.

Australian slang.

Is Ute an Australian word? A lot of Australian dialect is distinctive, and unique to the country. Words such as 'dunaroo' for the toilet or 'chundering' for having a night out, are not well known in the US or UK. Anyway, I'm off to put a few bruce's on the barbie, crack open a cobber or two and relax with me shrimps.

Utes are common down under, everyone else, mostly, calls them pick-up trucks.

They ARE American. But it may be that the commercial was made for the American market and used in Britain. I'm in the colonies so I haven't seen the commercial.

Utes comes from the word utility, the word usage started in Australia not the USA.

Ute is an Australian term - utility. In the US they would be trucks.
