Why are Japanese Cars better than American Cars?
Japanese cars last longer, While a Ford will start giving you problems once you hit the 10th year.
Find a UAW thug, take a good look at him, and then ask yourself: Do you want this person assembling your vehicle?
Funny. Japanese cars are dropping in sales while American cars are rising.
Used to be true. Japanese cars are just as bad now. Toyota got caught up in the airbag scandal, similar to GM's ignition scandal. They are all the same now. Even Posches and Mercedes and BMW (German engineering) are not as good as they once were.
No one cares about quality any more.
Fords are great, you just have to know how to take care of them. You can keep those ugly foreign cars!
I love my Toyota Tundra, Better haul and better transmission than my old Chevy Silverado
I believe you need to check your data as it contains substantial errors in regards to quality of motor vehicles.
The Japanese cars of the 1970s and early 1980s were of substantial better quality and caused the great erosion of the US auto industry. The US industry bounced back, did the type of management they needed to do and "cleaned house" to a substantial degree. The damage to the US industry has been substantial (e.g. GM had about 54% domestic market share, 30% being Chevrolet and now all of GM is about 26% domestic market share, Chrysler has been at the verge of death twice; GM and Chrysler have been in bankruptcy and reorganized). In spite of all of that, the Japanese have had their quality problems of late and in fact the Global Auto Leader of late is a German company (VW). Some US models, just like some Japanese and some German models are very high quality; some are not.
Better designed and better built. The Japs learned all they needed to know by copying in the early days. Now their products are first class.
Japanese cars aren't really built better, they're just a lot cheaper and thus maintaining them is easier. Change your fluids, have them looked over every once in a while, and know what to listen for and you car will last as long as a Honda. Also consider that a 4 cyl Honda has a lot less to go wrong than a v8 domestic.
- Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
- Why do Republicans get upset when Americans buy superior Japanese vehicles? The only somewhat decent US manufacturer is Ford but nowhere near the quality of Honda, Toyota, Subaru, or Nissan.
- Why do Presidents live so long? Do they get better healthcare than normal people? Jimmy Carter is 94 and still alive, George H.W. Bush died at 94, Gerald Ford died at 93, Ronald Raegan lived to 93. How come they live so long? Most normal people die at like 80-85, sometimes late 70s. So why are they living so long? Obama will probably make it to 100.
- Why don't American cars last as long as Japanese cars? My family has owned a Ford Taurus and a Nissan Altima of similar model years. Both cars are still running, but the Taurus has very low mileage (it's a 1999 with only 85,000 miles) and the interior is in horrible condition and the plastics Ford put in have been known for breaking. None of this has happened with the Altima, even though it has more miles. Why?
