Who is a better President, Obama with a 1.5 percent GDP, or Trump with a current 4.9 percent GDP?

GDP Averages - US Dept. Of Commerce
Johnson 5.3 percent, Kennedy 4.3 percent, Clinton 3.9 percent, Reagan 3.5 percent, Carter 3.3 percent, Eisenhower 3.0 percent, (post-WWII average of 2.9 percent) Nixon 2.8 percent, Ford 2.6 percent, Bush 41 2.3 percent, Bush 43 2.1 percent, Truman 1.7 percent, Obama 1.5 percent

My Good Witch of The North Pose Who is a better President, Obama with a 1.5 percent GDP, or Trump with a current 4.9 percent GDP

Trump doesn't have a 4.9% GDP… Yet.

Some say that Trump is the most effective president ever. That is still debatable since he has only been in office a short time but if things keep on getting better, that argument will become a strong one.

When Obama took office the GDP was -2.8%. He turned that into a positive 2.9% Now it's 2.2% So I guess this is what the conservatives mean when they say "winning".

Obama is a joke. The contrast of 8 years of Trump vs Obama mean that the Conservatives economic vision is the one that generates prosperity for all.

If we obtain 4.9% GDP, besides all the wonderful things this does for the average worker, the government coffers will swell and like we conservatives have always said, "tax cuts actually generate higher tax revenues to the government due to growth."

Many states are experiencing record tax revenues as well due to growth.

This is a nightmare for Liberals.

The Nanny State Policies (Obama) vs The Free Enterprise Great Growth (Trump).

The economists will bring forward the results.

Trump has 3.2% growth now and could surpass 5% into next year. Obama had to work hard to keep things under 1% most of his term, so I understand why you like him so much.

President Trump compared annual GDP growth in the Obama era to quarterly GDP growth in a three month period. And quarterly GDP often isn't a good indicator for how much an economy will produce over the year, with quarterly GDP growth often differing significantly from the year's overall GDP growth.

Take the Obama era for example. Between 2009 and 2016, GDP growth reached at or above 3% on a quarterly basis about eight times.

Then numbers have a way of being twisted and bent to make one look better.

Obama's numbers are actually much better. Let me first explain this by looking at where both started from. Obama came in while the country was in a recession and shredding jobs at 100,000 a month. Lets compare this to Trump that inherited an economy that was booming because of Obama's policies. As others pointed out. It was a negative number for Obama at the start. Thus Obama has a much larger amount of growth. Where Trump has seen growth, but it has only been a slight growth. Most of course from inheriting a strong economy from Obama coming into office.

So before you go out claiming victory. Understand that numbers can be twisted and contorted by the user to make one seem better than they really are.

Obama was a real President.

Obama.

Remember, Obama was handed the worst recession since WW2 from Bush. Obama hit 4% or more 6 times thru those turbulent times. There was significant job creation under Obama. Non-Farm payroll growth, has been, so-so under Trump.

Annual figures on GDP growth goes back to 1929, and often is used to back up the same talking point on conservative media outlets that Obama has not had a full calendar year of aggregate GDP growth of at least 3 percent. I guess that's where you get this from.

But the fact is Obama handed an economy that was recovering the last 3 years, and YOUR man has had the luxury of taking a recovery instead of a recession. So his corporate welfare tax giveaway will have some benefited, we'll see for how long. We know that this tax giveaway has projected large deficits with it.
