White smoke coming from exhaust, Ford Zetec 1999 petrol?

I have no other problems with the car, it has 1/2 tank petrol, and oil.

At first I thought it may be the cold but, it happens too often for that.

Here we go everyone is going to tell you your head gasket is bad and needs to be replaced. Don't believe all you read on here, that includes me. First off how much smoke are we talking about? Does it do it after the car has been warned up? Look at other cars you will see the ones that have just been started in the morning because they will have white smoke from condensation that gets burnt off from the inside of the exhaust pipe as hot gases force it out. Yours may be normal.

Keep an eye on the coolant level. Check it when the car is cold in the morning every day for several days in a row. If the level is dropping, then you might have coolant leaking into the engine or it might be leaking out somewhere else, but either way it's time to get it to the shop if the level is dropping. It's important that you check the coolant level with the engine cold each time you do it - the level in the reservoir can vary depending on engine temperature.

If the level isn't dropping from day to day, then the white smoke you're seeing probably isn't the result of coolant getting into the combustion chambers. With the "right" mix of temperature and humidity conditions you can see exhaust smoke, even large clouds of it, any time an engine is running even when the engine is at full operating temperature.
