It's called the RANGE SENSOR and it's on top of the Transaxle. You'll need to remove the Air Filter Housing to get to it.
Hi when you take out the key from the ignition switch it should be enough when it is parked in neutral and the parking brake applied.
It's built into the transmission range switch.
- Where is the trunk safety release on a Ford Tempo? Mine doesn't have the release buttons in the glovebox and when I bought it the trunk wouldn't open. I got the back seat out but there's so much garbage and so little room I'm trying not to sift through all of it to find the safety release, does anyone know exactly where it's located?
- My 2000 Ford Taurus won't shift from neutral to reverse or neutral to park? Its curently in neutral but the steering colum shifter will go down to drive or drive 2 and will go back to neutral, but then it stops so I can't back up or park the car.since it doesn't go into park, I can't even take the keys out of the ignition. Any ideas?

I have a 94 4wd Ford Ranger with a 4.0 Engine, And i put a A4LD Automatic Transmission in it, but I can't get the Neutral Safety Switch or Starter Safety Switch and now I can turn the ignition and it won't crank or even turn over and I heard that was the problem.
