That depends on what else has been done to the motor, like a new cam or intake manifold. If it is tired old 390, then the one that is on there's good.
The factory carbs worked fine the 2bbl Holleys, even the Motorcrafts no linkage modification required, the factory 4150/4160 series Holley 4bbl works great and are still being sold today for performance applications… Generally square bore Holleys with vacuum secondaries…
- I found some debris while rebuilding my ford 390? I'm about halfway through rebuilding my ford 390 out of my '70 Galaxie. I find plenty of little metal chips in the greasy soup inside. But I also found something which surprised me. It looks like long, tiny coil springs. And there's a whole bunch of them circulated everywhere inside of the motor. Where did these little springs come from?
