Pistons for a Ford 390 FE?

72 390 fe out of a f100. I know the stock compression is 8.2.1. I want to bump it up a bit. The cam I plan on running is a lunati with.300 duration and.514 lift int and ext. What's flat top pistons could I run with this cam and everything else stock? Id appreciate links to summit.

You could buy a Chevy. That might be a good start.

9.5:1 is good.

What for? Track or road? Totally different. A hot cam on the road is a real pain and you my lose enough power band to bog down on gear changes if you don't have c/r gearing. Think first.

That much duration is barely "streetable". You need at least 9.7-10:1 C.R. Tall gears in the back and a 3,000 stall speed convertor.

  • Ford taurus, ford focus, ford escort or mercury cougar? Looking for a new used car, anyone know if any of these are bad cars? They're all in the 2000-2005 range I'm leaning towards the focus cause it gets good mileage and has good storage, also I've heard it does alright in snow. Anyone have any bad experiences with any of these cars or have any bad feedback?
  • I found some debris while rebuilding my ford 390? I'm about halfway through rebuilding my ford 390 out of my '70 Galaxie. I find plenty of little metal chips in the greasy soup inside. But I also found something which surprised me. It looks like long, tiny coil springs. And there's a whole bunch of them circulated everywhere inside of the motor. Where did these little springs come from?
  • Must I put premium gas in my 1965 Ford F100 390 V8 or can i put regular gas? I was told that it needs premium gas and premium gas only. But the guy who I bought the truck from said it was a myth and it takes regular gas. What gas does my Ford F100 390 v8 engine take?!
  • I'm in need of a rebuilt 390 engine and FE transmission? Who will sale classic car engines and transmissions? I been looking online, but most that sale engines and transmissions don't sale anything after 1990. I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500.
