What do I need to know before getting an old truck?

I plan on getting a 1970 Ford F-100 and I wanted to ask if there's anything I need to know before getting this truck, how to keep it in good shape, and what are the necessities of owning this type of truck.

Need to know? No power anything. Don't plan on parallel parking. Don't plan on controlled emergency stops. Other than that. Very easy to work on… And fun to tinker with.

Best site you'll ever find.

You need to understand how to deal with a carburetor. You need to understand the brakes, steering, and suspension will not be what you are used to. This truck won't fire right up in 20 degree weather, for example. But it will be easy to work on.

1970 vehicle… You will be ordering parts and going to the junk yard to find parts All THE TIME…

  • Things to know before buying a new or used vehicle? It's my first major choice. Please help and yes I'm going anonymous because I don't want to be judged. Do I pay exactly what the sticker says? Am I supposed to ask questions? What should I know and what is the best choice if you please? Ford's seem like durable vehicles that are easy to work on or I don't know just help please?!
  • Is it ok to drive a car with a transmission fluid leak for a week before getting fixed? I have a 2007 ford ranger with only 38k miles on it, recenntly I have been having minor delays when shifting into drive from reverse before it catches and I actually move forward. So i checked my transmission fluid which seems to be pretty low a good amount below the cross hatched area. So I added more fluid and then saw some leak onto the garage floor within 30mins. I have not seen any leak before, could i still drive it before i get it fixed next week without causing more damage?
  • I'm getting my cdl next year, is it better to have experience driving a bigger vehicle before i get my cdl? I'm getting my class a cdl? I'm going to get a job driving a ford f450 dump truck hauling an excavator on a 20ft equipment trailer… I believe that if i have experience driving a bigger vehicle w/ or w/o a trailer will help, is this true
  • How old is too old for a truck? I'm looking to buy a box truck and found a 1990 Ford E 350 with 78000 miles on it. Does it matter that it is 27 years old? The owner said I need to replace the oil and tires. What else will need to be replaced? The asking price is $2750
