This is a good one. I have a 2001 Ford Taurus Lx 3.0. I had a loose terminal so fixed that the negative side, ok and then?
Found the wire was also loose where the wire nit screws down on altanator. The stand off broke off even. How do you fix that easy out?
If you meant the "stud" instead of stand, you have to replace the stud. Or you can get an alternator from a junkyard.
I meant stud not stand off
Drill through the stud then get a easy out to get the stud out. Do this carefully if you break the easy out in there you'll then need to replace the alternator
If you broke the electrical stud on the alternator you will have to disassemble the alternator to replace it. It would seem obvious that you won't know how to do this so probably best just to have a shop replace the alternator.
Usually the alternator stud has an addition nut on it which you can snug up to make it tight. If not, if it works that way, you could glue if with epoxy but the best thing is replace with new rebuilt or used. But don't expect long term service from used. If you like to hold on to cars, get at least rebuilt.
Remove it from the inside.
- What is a good car that can hold 6-8 people and had good gas milage? I don't want a minivan. Right now I have a ford freestyle. I'm looking for under $5,000 and can get around to 40 miles per gallon
- One side of the power steering rack line on this 91 Ford Taurus is disconnected. Why, and what to do? The power steering rack in my Ford Taurus has a metal rack line that is just laying there unconnected on the front left wheel side of the rack and pinion. Did it just pop out a long time ago? It looks like its been laying there unconnected forever. It seems connected fine on the right hand side, next to the bellows. If I try to plug it back into the fitting for it, will it stay put this time?
- 2003 ford taurus ses sedan 3.0L OHV (vin: U) Loose fuel cap warning light (yellow light)? My "loose fuel cap warning light" is on inside my car. I had the gas cap replaced and no codes show up on the OBDII scan tool. What could cause the light to stay on?
- Have a 1982 200 Ford inline 6, It idles perfect And quiet, when you accelerate it gets a good amount of power for about a second then? Starts losing power, if you floor it, it will die. Starts losing most power at half throttle after that it starts to hesitate. Has a new carburetor, timing is good, advancer working, new spark plugs, fuel pump, filter, pcv valve, vaccum lines good, Ah I forgot to mention it runs better with the choke about 3/4 closed, no diaphragm for pump. It has original electronic ignition.
