Should I buy this used Ford Taurus 2000?

Planning to buy a Ford Taurus 2000. It has 140,000 miles on it. The condition of the car seemed pretty good. The price was fixed on $1200. But when I checked with a mechanic 1, he said that the ball joint and the sway bar of the car might need to be replaced soon. And also says that the front right wheel makes a little noise. Should I still go for this car?

No, money pit.

Not unless you have another 1200 to put into it on top of the 1200 it costs to buy.

How much are those repairs? You may be able to use that cost to reduce the car price a bit

Common problem is weak transmission. The ball joint won't cost much and the sway bar doesn't go bad, but the rubber bushings mounting it do. Again, not expensive. If the trans is on its last leg, that would be a deal breaker.

  • What's a good year to buy a used 4cyl Ford Ranger for around or less than $2000? I'm in the market for a used ford ranger. I'm looking for the extended cab with a 4cyc engine. I've got less than $2000 to spend, my question is what's a good year to look for with that engine, and maybe some bad years to avoid? Btw, I live in los angeles, CA. So I'm not worried about rust, or it being to old, if it was maintained well is the main thing. I know at that price range I can't expect much.
  • Should I buy this used car? My first time buying a used car so I found a 2011 Ford Fusion SE for $12,500 No accidents or anything. Has about 63,000 miles on it. 6 speed Do you think that's too expensive? Should I buy it?
  • Should I buy new or used diesel? So I made a mistake by buying a new Ford focus st and now I want to get rid of it for a truck, I'm taking a big loss but I've accepted it. I want to get a diesel and a boat. I have found 2 options I like: 2006 2500 cummins with 98k miles in good shape for 28k OR 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins for 43k new The 06 is cheaper but 10 years old. Would it be worth it in the long run to just get the new?
