P0430 Catalyst Efficiency bank 2 problem?

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE v6. I had to replace the motor because it blew a head gasket. When I got the car back with the new motor the light came on. I just changed the bank 2 cat today (the one closest to the front). I had the code P0430 cleared. I went 36 miles and the light came back on. The car sometimes is hesitant when I crank it first thing then it clears up and runs smooth when it warms up. Is it now the 02 Sensor? & which one do I supposed to change? I'll consider all answers.

I had the same problem after I put new head gasket on my Montana, All the codes was coming up bank 2, My problem was a vacuum leak.
Hopes this helps.

  • Bank 1 and Bank 2 too lean? I have a 2004 ford taurus. About a month ago the CEL came on, ran to advanced auto to get a code and they said my bank 2 was too lean. Yesterday, got a code run again and they said bank 1 and 2 too lean. They said it was probably my oxygen sensors. The car has developed a rough idle when first starting up and has lost some power and acceleration. I plan to take it to a mechanic soon, but until then i'm trying to find out what the problem is. Any suggestions?

  • My 2000 ford expedition is having a problem with the turning signals. Can anybody identify the problem? The hazard lights work perfectly. I changed out the flasher unit and still not working. I hear like a crackling noise when i try to turn them on. Also, they partially work when I'm pressing the brakes.
