Added (1). I meant ford mustang
Replace fuel pump
Check to make sure you have 12volts at the fuel pump connector when you try cranking, if so and it isn't humming then its a bad pump. If there isn't voltage there can be many things. Crank position sensor, wiring, ECU, etc…
Could be any number of issues… Blown fuse for pump relay, bad pump relay, fuel pump inertia safety switch is tripped, wiring issues, bad ground connection, etc. Check for blown fuse for the pump relay (fuse 14… 20 amp) or check the fuel safety switch… If tripped… Reset. Do you hear the pump relay click when ignition is turned on? If not, then you have a problem in the circuits to the relay, blown fuse or bad relay. The relay coil side is powered up by the PCM and gets power from the 20 amp fuse on the contact side of it to operate the pump circuit. Possibly the PCM fuse may be blown too… Check that one as well.
Basically, you need to see if power is getting to the fuel pump via the pump relay… It should power up for a few seconds when key is turned on and then pump turns off until engine starts… The computer then sees an rpm signal from the crank sensor and turns it back on… Check for a good ground at the pump wiring (black wire)… If no power at pump (pink/black tracer wire), then check back through circuit… If ground is not good, check the ground wiring/connection.
You need power and ground to complete a circuit. If you do get power and good ground at pump wiring, then the pump is bad.

- I have a 2002 Ford Taurus that won't start? It started one minute, I drove home. Later that night it just wouldn't start. It cranks and tries but fails. The pump turns on. I'm assuming it's not getting fuel. My question is what could cause it to not start. Or what would prevent fuel from getting to the engine beside the injectors and the fuel filter
- Car cranks but will not start? My car is Ford Taurus 2003 SES and recently it cranks but won't start. I got a new battery, sparks are good, all relays are working fine. but when i check the fuel pump by listening to the sound in the fuel tank i didn't hear anything, the next thing is no fuel pressure. Now i do not know what to do next. is it the fuel pump or is it something else?
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- 2002 ford ranger wants to start but won't? I took the truck threw a mud hole. Made it threw then truck stalled. I got it to start back up but it was blowing out some smoke so friends convinced me to just let it sit and dry. I did that and now it won't start at all. It acts like it wants to but just won't.
