Car cranks but will not start?
My car is Ford Taurus 2003 SES and recently it cranks but won't start.
I got a new battery, sparks are good, all relays are working fine.
but when i check the fuel pump by listening to the sound in the fuel tank i didn't hear anything, the next thing is no fuel pressure.
Now i do not know what to do next.
is it the fuel pump or is it something else?
Did you bump the rear of the car into anything? If so, you may have triggered the fuel pump safety cutoff. The reset button on most Fords can be found in the trunk. If that is not the case, then you may need a new fuel pump. Also, consult your owner's manual regarding the fuel pump reset.
Test, test, test. You have a crash switch which the location of is in the owners manual. You also have a fuel pump relay which you can also find in the owners manual. If all that checks out hook your test light up to the plug at the fuel tank THEN turn on the ignition and see if it sends power to the plug, it will only be on for about two seconds before the computer shuts it off. Got power pull the tank and replace the pump.
2003? Probably time for a new fuel pump. BUT BEFORE YOU SPEND ANY MORE MONEY - FULLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. Otherwise you'll end up with a new car for your radiator cap.
Have someone bang on the fuel tank while you try to start it. Sometimes banging on the fuel tank may dislodge dirt on the commutator (on the fuel pump motor) and allow it to make contact. Once it's running it should continue to run until you shut it off again. And this is no way to drive a car. If the fuel pump is going then it's time to replace it. My 2002 Chevy S10 needed a new pump in 2014. They don't last forever.
OR it could be like others have said, a tripped safety switch.
Hope this helps.

- My 2002 ford taurus cranks but don't start? It starts when i put starting fluid my fuel pump won't come on can i try anything before buying a new one I meant ford mustang
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- Ford Mustang 2000 cranks but doesn't turn on? Everything was perfect. Car would crank b run but I replaced the whole dashboard to a new one but now that I put it all together, can doesn't start. It cranks but nothing. I have everything connected I even bought a new battery but nothing. What could it be or can you name the wires that have to do with that issue maybe it's not plugged right
- Car cranks but does not start? Car will not start? 00 ford Mustang v6. Will only start if I spray starting fluid in it, but will die out in less then a minute of it being on. Car is getting spark and cranks electrical I know is 100 percent good. Fuel rail is receiving fuel but I don't know the pressure but pours out when I press on the valve. Sounds like it wants to start just doesn't fire up. The car I know was on a flooded street but only to the floor.
