I hooked up my car battery in my 2006 Ford Taurus, backwards. Damage?

The car ran for two days, but on my way home from work it just died. The lights went dim and the car died. I can do minor work on my car. I've replaced the alternator before. Is that all it is?

Shouldnt be any Damage, but Fords… Well, 'nuff said.

Check the Fuse box in the Engine Compartment (usually near the Battery), and check for a fuse box located inside the car, (eitherunder the dash, or in the Firewall - usually on Drivers Side).

Replace any and all fuses with the Appropriate rated watt-sizes, and all should be well.

Alternator is an easy test

Not possible. JetDoc is correct. This is BS. In less that 60 seconds the wiring would be smoking and the car would be instantly out of commission. Do you not have anything else to do? How about the "name" you selected for yourself? It is not a name, nor title nor much beyond a collection of letters and numbers, truly a reflection of what is rattling about in that brain you have acquired from your parents.

More than likely the alternator has been destroyed.

Damage? More than likely. Electronic things can't accept reverse polarity. They blow up instantly. The headlights and other bulbs wouldn't be injured. Motors wouldn't be injured, like heater blower motor.

You can do minor work? I think not. Not if you connected the battery backward.

You had to have blown at least 1 Fusible Link. They will be under the Fuse/Relay box under the hood. Most of them are Plug In, but the higher rated ones are Bolt In.
