I have a 2011 Ford Taurus that overheats only when the AC is on. It also intermittently blows cool air when I turn the heater on. Any ideas?

Added (1). P.S. -- Coolant levels are fine.
You are low on coolant.
You think the coolant level is good, but it actually isn't.
Low on anti freeze
Have you even taken the radiator cap off yet to see if there's any coolant in the system?
More than likely, your radiator fans are not working right… One should ALWAYS be on when A/C is switched on… The other should come on as temp rises… This is assuming the fluid level is full… Is the A/C compressor running, and cycling, off and on?

- I have a Ford Ranger 4.0 and the AC doesn't blow very cool air. I want to add refrigerant for very 1st time, never have added to any vehicle? I'm using a gauge to test the pressure. With AC on max the needle moves between 25 and 45, the blue normal range. The compressor cuts on at 45 and off at 25. This happens continuously. The outside temp is 80 degrees. Not exactly understanding what I was doing, I added a little refrigerant and now the needle goes to 47 in the yellow range. Will this do any harm? Can I remove the excess refrigerant? If so, how? Is the system fully charged? If so, why isn't the air cooler?
