How much will it cost for a front wheel drive auto transmission?
Okay so my dad just got this car from my moms friend, and the transmission doesn't work (We knew this when we got it) and we were wondering how much it would cost to get one professionally installed. It's a 2001 Ford Taurus SES and we're sort of on a tight budget, so if anyone knows a place that'll do it for 1500$ or less it'd be great! Or can someone give me a sight or tell me how to switch it as a DIY project. I know its difficult, but we need this car, desperately, so we'll do whatever we have to (within our price range)
Added (1). *site wow I'm out of it today
Good luck finding a reputable shop to rebuild it for $1,500. The going rate is $2,000 to $2,500.
See if you can find on in the junk yard
It's a front drive car, so it's like a grand JUST to get the tranny out of the car.
I just had my 2000 Acura 3.2TL transmission rebuilt and it cost me 33Cs. Of course they had to use OEM Honda parts so your car may cost a little less. But make sure you pick out a reputable tranny shop.
If you got only 1500 then you'll have to find transmission in junkyard and install it yourself. Most shops will be in the 2500 range for rebuilt transmission
- Front Bumper is gone on the used car I just bought. How much to fix it? Is it safe to drive? I just bought a used car for $1300 the only issues with it our the rear suspension needs to be fixed and the front fender is missing completely. There's no metal at all and no cover so the bottom half of the radiator is exposed. Its an 02 ford Taurus and I'm wondering how much a complete new bumper is going to cost like a ball park estimate? And is it safe to drive it without the front bumper temporarily?
- Will an all wheel drive wheel bearing fit a rear wheel drive wheel bearing? The front passenger wheel bearing is bent on my 96 ford explorer but someone with a 97 ford explorer sold me one will it still fit an work? Ours is a rear wheel drive the other car is an all wheel drive please give info I don't know much about cars
- Should the revised 2016 Ford Explorer ditch front-wheel drive for rear-wheel drive? Which midsize, non-luxury SUV uses RWD these days? Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, a used Chevrolet TrailBlazer or GMC Envoy. Not to mention the Nissan Xterra.
- Are Ford Expedition El's Front wheel drive? I'm looking at Ford Expeditions especially the EL models but Autotrader says they are RWD but I would prefer FWD because I have bad winters so if they are actually RWD I will probably just buy the regular Expedition. So if anyone knows what drive type it is please tell me.
