How fast are police cars?

The RAMP down here use crown vics and ford Taurus. While the metro police use dodge chargers

Well I have doubts that pirate boy buried the 160 mph needle, if anything got buried it was probably in his backside. For all his huffing and puffing I doubt he's even a law dog, although he really like to repeat his self a lot.
I've seen cruisers that couldn't keep up but with help from Motorola, air support and back up cruisers they managed to stay with the faster car and block it from getting to far to fast. So I'd say cruisers are fast enough to get to morning fresh doughnuts before they're cold in the mornings.

While responding to an Officer Needs Help call at 3am, My 2008, 5.7L Hemi, Dodge Charger was checked by an officer of another agency at 162mph. True, not nearly as fast as a Vette, Porsche, sport motorcycle, etc., Particularly with as much weight in equipment as we have to carry. So, we have to rely on superior training to catch a fleeing felon.

Fast enough

In an urban environment, top speed is irrelevant as there's no room. That is whythe quality of the radio is just as important as the car.

When seconds count, they're just minutes away.

There fairly fast. But not as fast as my corvette.

Fast enough to catch a sports car

  • Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
  • Why don't American cars last as long as Japanese cars? My family has owned a Ford Taurus and a Nissan Altima of similar model years. Both cars are still running, but the Taurus has very low mileage (it's a 1999 with only 85,000 miles) and the interior is in horrible condition and the plastics Ford put in have been known for breaking. None of this has happened with the Altima, even though it has more miles. Why?
  • Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
  • Can a police officer buy a brand new unmarked police car with out his department's Do Dodge and Ford sell their unmarked police cars to individual police officers if the officers directly contact Dodge or Ford? Or do they only sell their unmarked police cars directly to police departments? Happy Gramps You are wrong. Dodge and Ford have their factory equipped Charger and Ford Interceptor (Taurus) models with police packages
