Best amp and subs for 110A Alternator?
My vehicle is a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. I'm assuming that it is a 110A Alternator. I looked at the numbers on the alternator and they are a3622f. I don't know if that is a model number or what. But anyways I'm wondering how much watts I can put out for an amp. Would a 1,400 watt amp work good? I could get a capacitor also. This vehicle has power seats, power windows, etc. So I need to take all that into account. Could you guys give me some recommendations for some subs that hit the hardest? Loud bass is my goal lol Thanks guys!
Oh and if I get two subs how should I wire them? Series? Parallel? 1 ohm? 2? 4?
You may have the 130A alt. My '99 SHO does.
I'm running 1500w rms.
On a day-to-day basis it works fine, but I've had to replace my alt twice in the last 3-1/2 yrs and the battery once.
There's really no way to know how much power is too much.
If you had 2000w rms, but didn't turn it up very often you might get years of service out of your alt/battery.
If you have 800w rms and blast it constantly you might burn up your alt in a few weeks or months.
Two of these (D4 version):

Wired like this:
Goosed with this amp:

With this wiring kit:

(if you're planning on a 2nd amp for your door speakers ever, then buy the 0 gauge kit now)
Slap em in a big ported box and let er eat. Grab the ear plug my friend, because you'll be bouncing quarters off the roof of your Taurus. That's the most bass for the buck you're going to find.
- Why my subs don't come on with cd player? I have a Kenwood radio with usb. When I change the source from tuner to cd the music plays but my subs don't come on. My subs come on with the tuner. I hooked all the weird Wires up except a solid blue wire. I have a 99 Ford Taurus SE if that means anything.
- Is a 130 amp alternator good for a 1200w system? I have a 1999 Ford Taurus SE and I recently looked up stock alternators to see how many amps my alternator was putting out. Everywhere I look i see 130 amps and I wanted to know if that is good (higher end, lower end, or average). And if you could, give me an example of how many amps are bad, and how many amps would be really good for a 1200w system.
- Can you install amp and sub into a 2003 Ford Taurus? Well I'm pretty sure you can but I noticed you have to buy the aftermarket raido kit for the car which is like 40$. And it includes the wires for heat and all that but just making sure I will be able to hook a custom head unit up to the wires inside the car?
- What speakers/subs should I get? I'm about to turn 16 and I'm wanting to get some speakers and a sub/s for my car. I'm not very educated with them. Which ones should I get? What brand is good? How many watts for the speaker and sub and amp? What brand would you recommend? They would most likely be going into a ford ranger if the type of vehicle matters.
