We have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred (renamed Taurus in 2008). Have had it since new… It's AWD with CVT… We've not abused it and have done all recommended maintenance.
We have our local shop check it over once a year… And this year it had it's very first repair (AC compressor was failing). We've never kept a car so long - but this is the most reliable vehicle we've ever owned.
I found one for a grand me and my girlfriend will be purchasing no check engine but ac out like you
- What's the first car you owned and best 4 cars made in your country? 1. First car I owned was a Ford mercury sedan left by a ww2 pilot at our farm. We used it on old farm road and in fields learning to drive Riley Pathfinder Morris minor 1953 with split window Austin 16 used by British Military Ford Popular
- My son has a 2000 Ford Taurus, there's not heat in his car? The car is equipped with a Auto Climate Control Unit. When the heat is turned on the blower motor does turn on as if there's no power to the blower. We have replaced the blower motor and checked all the fuses and relays. Could this be the Climate Control Resistor or the all in one controls on the dashboard? Or did we overlook something else?
- I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Sedan that has a screeching metal on metal sound when switching gears to reverse? And the sound is there the entire time you are backing up. Does this sound like a transmission issue? Also hearing a rubbing noise in the steering, and it is a little tight, any idea what that could be? Also heater blows, but not real strong and no heat comes out… Does that sound like a difficult and expensive fix? And could the heater or any of the above issues cause my engine light to light up solid continuously? The car runs pretty good aside from these issues.
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
