2004 Ford Taurus stalled while at a red light?

I just got a taurus yesterday, 2004 163xxx miles, runs greats. Took it to get new tires, oil was changed a week before i got it. I took it on the interstate, got it up to 70 and it was as smooth as ever. About 3 minutes after exiting the interstate, while at a redlight, I notcied a check engine light, along with 2 others that i didn't get to see really, went to accelerate, nothing. Turned it off, cranked right up, drove off no problem. Took it up to about 50 mph and still no problem. The engine light only came on that one time and hasn't again. WHat could it be?

I don't know much about cars, but I was thinking maybe it hadn't been driven that fast in a while (got it from a dealership, don't remember how long they had it) and maybe it wasn't used to going 70?

Not uncommon. What you want to know is why?
Not so easy. Very common here is a vacuum leak that weakens air fuel mix causing this to occur or a sticking idle speed control valve.
We can check these for self though having a scan run for fault codes may assist.

This can happen. Do not blame the red light

Just a guess, you didn't have a mechanical inspection done before buying it, would suggest a mechanical inspection now before spending money on it, and not by the guy you just bought it from

TEST: With the car in PARK, idling & just sitting - Put on the brakes. IF the idle drops & get rough when the brakes are on, check the vacuum booster on the power brakes for a leaking diaphragm.
